Kadri’s Kaleidoscope

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

It was a very important day in my life, my seventh birthday. I was all dressed up in a pilot’s uniform, ready to fly. My room was packed with an assortment of gifts. As I opened them, I found an unattractive, cylindrical piece of wood with a tiny hole on top. I peeped into it and was stunned by the colourful patterns reflected off the mirrors. With each turn of my wrist, the bits and pieces fell into fantastic patterns of vibrant colours and shapes. I was amazed and stunned. For the next three hours, I was flying high in a park full of multicoloured butterflies. This was the first time I had seen a kaleidoscope, derived from the Greek word for ‘observer of beautiful forms.

Our lives are much like a kaleidoscope. Moments of joy, sadness, adventures, opportunities, adversity, devastating experiences, and much more. With every twist, the bits and pieces of life fall into unique patterns of shades and shapes. Each place, each person, and each encounter are diverse and unique; none precisely the same.

If we examine our lives closely, we can draw a powerful analogy to the striking and bright patterns. If we accept the fact that life is a vibrant combination of yin and yang, which are complementary rather than opposing forces, then we will be mindful of the meaningful lesson's life is teaching us.

My life has been a kaleidoscope of myriad experiences. There have been moments of ecstasy and moments of misery. There have been victories and failures. There have been wonderful people and difficult people. Life has taught me lessons that no book or author could have driven me.

I look forward to sharing the wit, warmth, and wisdom I have acquired over the years through this column ‘Kaleidoscope’. I hope I can provide a small lamp to help you discover solutions to your problems, answers to your questions, and share my stories that would help you grow by connecting to the kaleidoscope of your life.

This journey is intended to provide a bright spark to fill the lives of my readers with thoughts of love and happiness thus making their world a beautiful and joyful place.
